I'm back!

Hey guys! Wow, Philly and New York City was a blast! I can assure you that we had the best of time there. I've got tons of pictures to show you guys, and just a ton of info to let out!

First of all, here was my room for the trip.
Second of all this was the bands full picture before we went out to perform in the Philadelphia parade.
Third of all here was the video of our band performing incase you weren't able to see it on Thanksgiving.
And since the sound cut out on us....(really ticked off our families back home) I found the audio to it as well....just the video is pretty crappy.
Fourth of all I found another really awesome video of one of my Band Directors, his Wife, my friends and I dancing to "Cupid Shuffle" with the Salvation Army band members.
Fifth of all, geez I'm dragging this on.... :P

Sixth of all I'm sorry I wasn't able to put anything on the blog while I was away but I had no internet, and no offense to ya'll but I wasn't going to use my 3G on my Iphone to post up a blog. :)
Anyway now you've seen my room mates, my band performing, my Band Director dancing, and a few more pictures coming up about.....NOW!

Whats new Band Geeks?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpjsMnI3htA
What's new Band Geeks? Yes that link is What's new Scooby Doo...I just thought it kinda fit. He he! Anyway, I've told you guys all about me and my band, and honestly I'm really starting to wonder if you feel the same way as I do. I mean, I'm no band fanatic, but I am very involved. And the one thing I don't know is if YOU have the same feelings and involvement.

What I want from you guys are to answer these questions.
1. What's the name of your band?
2. What's your instrument? And if you have a name for it, what is it?
3. How do you improve your music ability?
4. What is something special that only your section does?
5. What is your favorite cheer to yell during competitions?
6. How is your bus rides? Silent, Quite, Muffled, Talk-ative, Noisy, Loud, Singful, Gamers?
7. How do you aproach your Band Director?
8. Have you ever been on a Band trip for more than a day?
9. Have you ever forgotten your music, instrument, sticks, or a part of your uniform at school during a football game?
10. Have you told anyone else about this website?

I WANT ANSWERS PEOPLE! And it's totally okay to send me a private message with these answers, just incase you don't want to post them to the public (I won't put out names or ID's). And just so you know, once I have enough answers I will post MY answers to these questions for you guys.

Oh and just so you know, my Marching Band trip to PHI and NYC is in TWO days! So be on the lookout for us on the www.6abc.com website!

And as always,

The talk.

THE TALK! It has arrived and been answered! Of course, your all probably thinking about the "birds and the bee's" talk, and I'm talking about the non band member saying that marching band isn't all that hard. So first of all stop thinking of the birds and the bee's and FOCUS! Here is the story of third block, where a junior thought he could tell me that marching band wasn't that hard.

It was the middle of third block and our teacher was in the back reading a book, while the rest of us were supposed to be watching a video. I took out my parade music and started to tap the beat lightly on the table. Jarrod, the junior who sat next to me for that class glanced over and asked what I was doing. I replied with a "memorizing music". He scoffed and kinda did the eye roll towards my general direction. He said to me "What for marching band? You've got to be kidding me. You're taking extra time to work on something that is as simple as breathing?" I raised my eye brows in his direction and replied with a "As simple as breathing, huh. Alright Jarrod, lets see if this is easy for you. Tap the rythm on the desk." I pushed the sheet music pages towards him and waited for him to start. He kinda stared at the sheet music blankly like (of course) he was reading an alien language. He pushed it back saying, so what it's easy enough and so is all that walking you do on the field during half time". I bit my cheeks after that sassy remark. "If it's "so easy" lets see you do it. I'll give you my charts now, you study them through the next block, then meet me out on the practice field after school". School ended and I waited five minuets at the practice field and scoffed when I saw him actually walking towards me. "So you decided to prove me wrong"? He nodded and kept looking at the charts then back at me. I motioned towards the field and walked onto the 50 yard line. "You're first Buck-o". I stepped off and watched/laughed my butt off, while I watched a kid who knew nothing about music try to march. So in the end, if you ever hear someone tell you that Marching Band or just band in general is easy, take them to the field and have them march. Then we'll see who's boss!

The End,
Band Geek.

What....? You guys didn't realize that was totally made up? Ha ha! I'm kidding, a lot of it was made up yes, but the point of it wasn't. Some kid in my third block class (his name isn't Jarrod) told me that band/marching band wasn't hard, and I proved him wrong. Just make sure when you prove them wrong, not to totally go all Band Camp on them! Ha ha! So yeah, I have to go anyway though guys, meeting tonight for a totally different subject than band (for once!).

Pep Band, or Cheerleaders?

Heyo guys! Guess where I was at all day? Yup in Grand Island, NE (or as we put it, the middle of NO WHERE!). Anyway we were there for a pep band gig for the State Volleyball competition. And well we had to leave the school around oh....the nice and early 5 FREAKING AM!!! Yup...5am people's, try having to do that, and on a Friday too!

Gahh anyway, when we were in the first quarter or whatever of the game, none of the students that came (which all of us band kids new just came to get out of school) would cheer for the volleyball players or even bother to look up from their food/phones. So us band kids took it upon ourselves to not only cheer for our team, put to say cheers, and to also play! Oh and just so you know this too, we had a group of cheerleaders (not varsity) there and they just stood around doing nothing, no cheers, no peppy spirit....just stood there. GRR!!! But yeah these are the two cheers we screamed the most...

"GO BIG GREEN!" -tied to the Nebraska Cornhusker cheer "GO BIG RED!".            &
"Hey all you Wildcat fans,
lemme see you clap your hands!
*clap*
Now that you got the beat,
lemme see you stomp your feet!
*stomp*
Now that you got the grove,
lemme see your body move
*dance* Arugah, Ah, Ah, Arugah, Ah, Ah,
That's it!
*stop abruptly*" -used mostly from the band members during competitions, but also used during some football games from the Wildcat Crazies.

So yeah, it's been a pretty fun day. And it gets better too! I have a trumpet party tonight in about 30 min, that I get to go to...so yeah! Oh and just so you know, we wont burn anything down, but there are no promises about breaking something "accidently"!

Suns now on Youtube!

Hey guys, so guess who I found on youtube earlier. Don't know? Well it would be my old band Southridge. This was their Calvacade performance, and to me I think they did really well. And yes I know you guys are going to think "But Band Geek they have this problem...or that problem..." but hey, you know what...all of us have problems with our bands, trust me I know (hence the Sioux Falls competition). But you know what, you can only watch the video and enjoy it. None of that annoying "troll" crap on here. But without further adou, I present to you the Southridge Marching Band!!!!

Homework oh Homework.

"Homework oh Homework,
You are such a bore,
You never let me out the door.
Your a pain in my butt,
Cause then I can't Dut,
And enjoy my good ol' Band.

Homework oh Homework,
Why won't you go away,
I enjoy the day when you are away,
For then I can dance
And practice and prance,
All through out the good ol' Band day.

Homework oh Homework,
I see you have a crush,
And the reason I know of this lil' gush,
IS CAUSE YOU NEVER GO AWAY,
I pray, and pray, and pray,
that just one day,
I can march out on the field feeling gay."
