Loving the airport!

Hey guys! Well as you all know I'm moving to Nebraska, and at the moment I am waiting for my plane to Nebraska to get in. It's taking FOREVER!!!! I mean I flew out of Seattle and into Salt lake city. Now all I am doing is waiting for four hours till my plane to Nebraska leaves. Oh so much fun, am I right? Ha ha! Anyway other than just on my blog and rereading my music, life's been pretty slow.

Oh and two days ago my dad shipped out my instruments to Nebraska...I had a pathetically long and soppy goodbye moment with them. I know that just has "Band Geek" written all over it! But then again, I am a band geek. And if your reading this blog than you should be too. Anyway, about the band stuff now. Nebraska band is having one of their rehearsals TONIGHT, and of course Keith wants me there. I am freaking exhausted!! Don't get me wrong I want to be there and march and play and stuff like that, but when I've been up since 4:30 am and at the airport All freaking day. Don't ask me to do anything but sleep.

So since there is absolutely nothing to do, I should go and people watch (stalker watch). Ha ha! Just kidding! I'm no band geek stalker! Oh well, I'll talk to ya'll later!

Moving.

みんなヘイ!Or in english, Hey guys! So recently, like really recently (more like last thursday) I found out I was moving AGAIN! I know it's really odd since I had only lived here about 6 months, but yeah I'm moving back to the good ol' Nebraska. The nice thing is, is that I'm going back to my old school. I'll be with friends and people like that. Now don't get me wrong Washington was great, but it just wasn't for me or my family.

Now for the band part. School in Nebraska started Yesterday (August 16th). Really early in my opinion, but who cares. Anyway I got a hold of my old Band director, and well asked if I could be a part of the Marching band there. In anyway shape or form, I just wanted to be there and be a part of it. And I got an answer the next day, he said I would be able to march, just not the opener. But he is putting me on pit for that part! Isn't that great! Only problem is that I have no idea how to play any pit instrument. So wish me luck! But I should probably go. I mean I still have to pack and practice, so I'll talk to ya'll later.

P.S. I went to Band camp here in Washington, and for those of you reading. You guys did great for your first week with music!

Done with Mini Band Camp.

Hello geeks of the world! How are you all doing this fine day? Ha ha! Anyway, sorry for not having a post up yesterday. First of all I was at "Mini Band Camp" from 9-12. Not very long I know, but thats why it's called MINI! So yeah, I was there learning all the commands and burning the heck out of my arms and legs. Surprisingly though, my face is still white. : )

So I finished the "Mini Band Camp" and got home and realized I really stank. Stupid sweating. I also realized that I had only about 2 hours to get ready. Before I went with my friends to the DCI Big, Loud, and Live show at our local theater. I was forgetting almost everything before I headed out the door. Tipical me.

So we go to the theater and we sat in our seats, and waited. 20 mineuts pass, and we're still waiting. 15 more mineuts pass, and we're still waiting. We thought it was that they couldn't get any reception, but it was taking a little long for them to get it connected. When it FINALLY came on, my friend and I were always at the edge of our seats to see the rest of the show. THEN THE STORM HIT!!!!! And we lost connection again. But it wasn't just us this time! Aparently all 600+ theaters connections to the show were lost, because of a major storm in Indianapolis. Thankfully, when they AGAIN connected back to the show, the guys talking said they'd show us the cores that we had missed.

In the end it was a very late night, but with some Awesome marching! That about covers the past two days for me. Thanks for reading this blog, YOU'RE AWESOME!

You got your warm up?

Hey guys! It's your band geek here! Now we're gonna talk about Warm up's. I know, not the most interesting thing in the world, right? But actually Warm Up's are really important to use before you play. So one of my good friends D.j, wrote his own Trumpet Warm Up and Brass Warm Up. In my opinion, I think they're pretty damn good. Here's the link to both, so go check 'em out. Use them, play them and of course Share them!

Practice doesn't always make perfection.

So I'm very happy at the moment! And the reason for my happiness is because I finally hit my D sharp. And it wasn't your "hit and fail" note, I actually held on to that sucker! Ha ha! I know you guys probably don't care, but to me this is huge! And everyone gets that feeling when they finally hit a note that they haven't been able to hit before. You just get that rush of excitement and accpomplishment. So if you haven't hit a note that you've been trying to get for awhile now, well take this advice and use your scales. Go up an octave, you'd be surprised at what you will be able to achieve after just practicing your scales. SO DO IT! Like right now! Stop reading this blog and get to it!

P.S. When your parents or teachers say "practice makes perfect" they would be lying. Practicing doesn't always make you perfect, it just improves your skills.

Early Mornin'

A very good morning to everyone! It's been a very long night for me, since I've had no sleep for the past 24 hours. Anyway, tonight is the read through so I cannot under any circumstances look exhausted. Oh right, that reminds me. I still have to do my morning bike ride. Yeah I'll look like crap later on. Ha ha! Alright enough with me and my tiredness, what's going on with you all? Are you getting ready for/ or already in band camp yet? If so, tell us other band geek's how it's going, we're desperate to know. That's for sure!

Another question for ya. Are you ready for school to start again? Cause it's not to far away if you think about it...just a few more weeks really. Then we're back in stuffy class rooms listening to lectures we could really care less about. Do ya'll feel that way about classes too? And if you don't we could "debunk" you as a teachers pet! You really wouldn't want that know would you?

Congrats!

Earth to all band geeks! Hey guys it's your band geek here with another awesome band topic. So as my title says "Congrats!" well it's for one of my friends Lizzie. She has been accepted into the Macy's Day's Parade to perform a color gaurd number. Isn't that cool! And for a fundraiser she's selling these car decals for $7 (picture below). So again, congrats to you Lizzie, I know all of us will be watching your performance!

Random Question!!!!

If you were able to play a totally different instrument than what you play now, what would you play?

Put your answers down in the comments below! Again, thanks for reading this blog and being apart of music. The world also thanks you for that too!

Sunshine!

Bonjour les geeks de la bande! And if you have absolutely no idea how to speak french, it means Hello Band Geeks! Ha ha! So I decided to go outside for a little bit and read a book. Well I got bored, so I tried to sleep, again I got bored. So the one last thing I could think of to do outside that was interesting to me was to march.

Yup, I practiced marching for about two hours actually. Pretty fun way to spend a summer day I must say. Who else agrees? Ha ha! Anyway, I had my brother and his friend randomly shouting out commands for me to do. Now the sad part is...these were my old commands. Yeah I know, I should really be practicing my new ones but that's no fun! That requires learning during summer. You don't learn during summer (exception for music theory)! It just isn't right for us to learn! So yeah, good day...and now I'm all sun burnt. Great....

Lovely Read Through.

Hey everyone, it's your friendly Band Geek here to post yet another thing about band! So the one thing coming up for me this week is the Read Through. This is where we pretty much read through the music. Interesting no? So from what I've been told, we read through our show and go through some of our pep band/bleacher feature songs. It should be good cause then we get a feeling for the music before we start marching.

But I found our performance on youtube and it's called "Dance Mix". Our performance consists of the following songs. We found love- Rihanna, On the floor- Jennifer Lopez, Where have you been- Rihanna (again), and Americano- Lady Gaga. Not a bad set of songs I must say. So here's the link for you to click on and enjoy our show. Now why haven't you clicked on it yet!?!

Anyway, I should probably stop blogging and pick up my instrument to practice. I've kinda lost my touch. Ha ha! See ya tomorrow Band Geeks!

First post!

Hey guys! It's your band geek here. I just wanted to say, I'm glad this is finally up! And as you know, I love band. You know all bands...marching, jazz, symphony. That kind of stuff just makes my day, and I hope it does with you too. And if it doesn't, well than why are you reading my blog?

So lets get down to business. Oh who am I kidding, there is no business here. Ha ha! Anyway somewhat recently I had moved to Washington. And I was nervous, by the way it wasn't your typical nervousness. I was scared of my new band! I know sad...but true. But later on, I met some great friends who showed me "the ways of Southridge band". And I'm liking it a lot! So for any of you that will actually read this, you should know that being yourself in your band is priceless.
